Who We Are

Dallas Disciples exists to build young athletes into purpose-driven leaders who play the game the right way — on and off the court.

OUR Story

Dallas Disciples was founded after a life-changing experience by our founder, Jalon Cooper. While playing on the JV team at the University of North Carolina, his coach — Hubert Davis — began each practice and game by sharing a motivating bible verse or life lesson that could directly apply to the court. Those lessons stuck with Jalon, showing how the disciplines from basketball could apply to life.

Coach Davis’s Christ-centered mentorship didn’t just make him a better player — it helped shape him into a better person. That experience sparked a mission in Jalon: to help the next generation of hoopers grow into elite basketball players who are purpose-driven leaders, helping them discover who God has called them to be.

Since then, Jalon has served as an assistant coach for UNC’s JV team — learning firsthand the model that makes UNC one of the greatest basketball programs of all time. He’s also served as a youth leader at his local church, mentored numerous young people, and most recently coached youth basketball in the Dallas area.

At Dallas Disciples, we seek to translate all of that experience into a high-level basketball program that sharpens today’s kids into tomorrow’s leaders — on and off the court.

Our Mission

Our mission is to train young athletes to win on the court and lead off of it. Through high-level basketball instruction and Christ-centered mentorship, we develop strong, disciplined young men who become elite basketball players and lifelong leaders.

TRained to win. Called to lead.

Our Pillars

    Learn

We teach kids how to play the game the right way — both on and off the court. Every great leader begins as a great learner, who is hungry to grow.

ON THE COURT: we build basketball IQ through intentional skill development, smart decision-making, and monthly film sessions.

OFF THE COURT: we invest in character through monthly one-on-one mentorship meetings, pray together as a team, and implement life-shaping values.

    Live

We teach our players to carry themselves with integrity, consistency, and discipline — on the court and in life.

ON THE COURT: we learn how to play high IQ basketball by consistently putting them in game-like situations in order to improve their decision making.

OFF THE COURT: through team standards, faith-centered conversations, and assigned leadership positions, our athletes learn to live out their values with purpose.

    Lead

We develop leaders who have a positive impact on their teams, families, and communities.

ON THE COURT: We build leaders who encourage teammates, stay composed in pressure moments, and contribute to team success.

OFF THE COURT: We challenge our players to step into leadership by serving others, staying humble, and taking responsibility.

Culture built through G.r.i.t.

  • Grow

We lead each other to grow in skill, character, and faith every day—on and off the court.

  • Reflect

After every practice and game we reflect on how we compete, communicate, and carry ourselves.

  • Impact

We teach athletes to make a positive impact on their team, family, and community.

  • Trust

We learn to trust God, our coaches, teammates, and the work it takes to succeed.
